Among the Wodaabe, men adorn themselves with makeup during the yaake charm dance at the Guerewol ceremony. Pale yellow powder, kohl, and vertical lines elongate the facial features to accentuate the eyes, nose, and whiteness of the teeth. During this ceremony, men seek to seduce and impress women of marriageable age through their dances, songs, and distinctive facial expressions.
